Transylvania JUG – Flex presentation

Last week I made two presentations (Introduction to Flex and Integration between Flex and Java) for Transylvania JUG , the first Java user group established in Romania, in the middle of Transylvania. There were about 60-70 developers asking a lot of questions. I knew that some of them knew Flex but I was surprised to see that some of them also have knowledge of LCDS and BlazeDS. The user group was founded only a few months ago but they succeeded to organize several meeting related to Flex, Groovy, TestNG.

I hope that in future this kind of meetings will become a regular thing in Romania and more active user groups will be founded. Romania has one of the largest developers communities in Eastern Europe – and meetings like this help people share information, establish new connections, and improve their applications.

After that each one of the Adobe European evangelists (myself, Mihai Pricope, Mihai Corlan, Andrew Shorten, Enrique Duvos, Serge Jespers) will choose a winner.

LiveCycle Data Services ES 2.6 was released

The final version of 2.6 was launched on 18 July – it can be downloaded from this location (you need to have an Adobe ID). The documentation was improved from the last beta version (for example now there is a new chapter describing how to build and deploy an LCDS application and a new one regarding LCDS architecture).

You can download and use the trial version or the Express version (free, limited to one CPU).

Compared with 2.5 the new enhancements are:

- Improved LiveCycle Foundation Integration Features
- Improved RTMP Performance and Scalability
- Scalable HTTP Based Channel
- Data Management Improvements (support for complex domain models, paging, lazy loading, hibernate integration, subtype support)

The detailed description can be found on the documentation page located here.

MAX North America - Registration now open

You can register now for Adobe Max here. I did not attend personally to any of the previous events but I understood from my colleagues (from the ones working previously for InterAKT, the Romanian company acquired by Adobe) that is a great place to build relationships and to learn about new technologies.

Adobe Reader 9 was launched

You can download the new version of Adobe Reader here. You can find all the details regarding the new features and improvements on the Adobe Reader blog. For me as a regular user - and probably for most people - the most important thing is the improved launch speed.

IBM DB2 9.5 strikes again

Today, I visited the TPC website and I saw that IBM is again number one on the TPC-C benchmark. Take a look at the server configuration: 4TB of RAM and 730TB of disk storage - I’m wonder what the next winning configuration will be.
